Port Klang Authority will soon implementing what they called three-day free storage period for containers at Port Klang.
The ruling, which is expected to be put into action in this coming January,hopes to benefits the whole port community especially those related in the total logistics chain.
As put out by the port authority, the main objective of this ruling is to cut-off time for export and import shipments.

Before the rule is fully implemented, there are certain areas have been recognized for further improvement:
- The need to exempt containers which are detained by other government agencies.
- The calculation of free storage will be calculated based on hours instead of days.
- To reduce advance notification to hauliers from 48 hours to 24 hours.
