The Malaysian Container Depot Association (MCDA) has announced that they are imposing a levy of RM 5.00 on shippers for the usage of depot facilities effective August 1, 2008.

The recent fuel subsidy changes, combined with a new electrical tariff structure and higher food prices, will likely cause inflation in this country to jump to a 26-year high in the next few months. The inflation rate is expected to surge more than 6% with consumer price index (CPI) for 2008 at the average more than 5%.

:: OSV Charter Rates Expect To Fall

Charter rates for offshore support vessel (OSV) will see a marginal drop in 2009 and 2010. The OSV owners and operators expect that the rates to fall between 10% to 15%. The main reason for rates to go down is the entry of new tonnage.
